Blackmer® MAGNES Series Magnetic Drive Pumps bring world-first set of functionality, reliability, and flexibility to critical processes in numerous markets. As the newest addition to Magnetic Drive Pump Line of sliding vane pumps, MAGNES Series Magnetic Drive Pumps are positive displacement rotary vane pumps that use a magnetic drive without dynamic seals. This self-priming magnetic drive pump provides a leak-free pumping solution for difficult to seal liquids and any liquids that are too expensive, valuable, dangerous or hazardous to leak.

MAGNES Series Magnetic Drive Pumps solve legacy pain points with technically superior functionality that’s designed for chemical and severe duty applications. Key attributes include:

  • Indefinite Dry Run
End your worries with a permanent solution: the Blackmer® MAGNES Series Sliding Vane Magnetic Drive Pump. Unlike other pump technologies that are unable to handle dry-run without catastrophic damage to internal components, MAGNES uses non-metallic self-lubricating components that are capable of indefinite pump dry-run operation, during which it can still pull a vacuum, strip lines and create suction lift. This allows MAGNES to solve pump dry-run events while offering the flexibility of being unaffected by poor operating conditions and operator error.
  • Solids Handling
Unlike most competing technologies that self-destruct when confronted with contaminants, Blackmer® MAGNES Series Sliding Vane Magnetic Drive Pumps can effectively process liquids with suspended-solids levels of up to 20%. This ability stems from shear-sensitive open flow paths within the pump chamber and slow internal flow velocities that gently pass solids through the internal flow stages. This differs from other pump styles that rely on high internal flow velocities that violently move particles through the pump casing damaging components.
  • Cavitation & Vapor Mixtures Handling, Low to Zero NPSHr
Building upon 70 years of designing technologies that can pump liquefied gases, the Blackmer® MAGNES Series Sliding Vane Magnetic Drive Pump is our latest weapon developed to neutralize the negative effects of cavitation that ruin internal components of other pump technologies. With a sheer sensitive design, low internal velocities, self-lubricating elements and open internal flow paths, MAGNES boasts capabilities to process mixtures of up to 20% vapor or air content, producing an effective zero-NPSHr.
  • Full Curve & System Performance
Unlike alternate options that must be tuned to a single Best Efficiency Point (BEP), Blackmer® MAGNES Series Sliding Vane Magnetic Drive Pumps have the robustness and flexibility to accommodate wide ranging operating conditions within liquid-transfer and process applications. Designed to sustain extreme system pressure and head fluctuations as well as simultaneous flow rate fluctuations, MAGNES brings unmatched operational flexibility to critical systems.

With 3- and 4-in models available in both ductile iron (MI3, MI4) and stainless-steel (MS3, MS4) construction, MAGNES Magnetic Drive Pumps boast performance up to 520 gpm at 200 psi (1,968 L/min at 13.8 bar). MAGNES Sliding Vane Pumps provide magnetic drive pump capabilities, with the innate advantages of sliding vane technology. As a true self-priming pump, it will not need to be pre-flooded prior to start-up and is well suited for continuous duty operation, since the pump has no cumulative dry run limit.

With this rotary vane magnetic drive pump design, the Blackmer MAGNES Series has combined the leak-free benefits of a magnetic drive pump, with the numerous advantages of sliding vane technology - such as self-priming, line-stripping, product recovery, dry-run capability, solids handling, thin/thick viscosity flexibility, easy maintenance and 70% to 90% pump efficiencies.

Features and Benefits

  • Magnetic drive pump design is inherently leak-free
  • Non-metallic, proprietary composite containment shell that provides the coupling strength of a thin wall metallic shell and the reliability of an eddy-current-free design
  • Low speed operation – pumps operate at 10%-20% speed range of comparable options, while achieving the same flow and pressure outputs as other pumping technologies
  • Solids handling ability – with large flow path design, and low internal flow velocity, particulates up to 1/8 inch (3 mm) can pass through without issue
  • Designed for entrained vapor handling, low to zero NPSH required
  • True self-priming pump, does not require filling before start-up
  • Features suction lift capabilities that meet or exceed 25 ft (7.6 m) wet vacuum and 16 ft (4.9 m) dry vacuum
  • Full curve performance across the entire system range, without sensitivity to a BEP curve
  • Entire pump assemblies available with motor, gearbox, and baseplate
  • Advantages of sliding vane technology:
    • Self-adjusts for wear to sustain flow capacity throughout pump life
    • Excellent at self-priming, eliminates expensive priming systems
    • Extended dry-run capability, eliminates nuisance current monitoring systems
    • Sliding vane design provides sustained performance and trouble-free operation
    • Easy maintenance: vanes can be easily replaced without removing the pump from the piping system
    • High suction lift and line-stripping capabilities
    • Low maintenance and low life-cycle costs, pumps are renewable and repairable
    • Solids handling, provided by large displacement and slow internal velocities
    • Thin to thick fluid viscosity flexibility, eliminates expensive heating systems
